Spring Choral Masterworks Concert
Saturday, April 21, 2018
The Choirs of Delta College will present their annual Spring Choral Masterworks Concert. This year's concert will feature two works – Gabriel Fauré's 'Requiem' and selections from Carol Barnett's "The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass". We are offering a unique fusion of old and new, with the 'Requiem' being composed in the 19th century, and the 'Bluegrass Mass' composed in the 21st century. Both works will feature soloists from the Chorale and Chamber Choirs.
For the third time since 2012, the Delta College Chorale and Chamber Choir have been invited to perform in the Manhattan Concert Productions Masterworks Choral Festival at New York's prestigious Carnegie Hall. Our students from both the Chorale and Chamber choir will be traveling to New York in June to participate in a grand performance of Gabriel Fauré's 'Requiem' along with 7 other invited choirs from across the United States. Their performance will be accompanied by players from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and soloists from the New York Metropolitan Opera. All of the proceeds for this concert will go towards the cost of the trip.
The choirs will be accompanied by Mr. Jantz Black, Organist and Director of Music at First United Methodist Church of Midland. The choirs will be under the direction of Dr. Tim Hendrickson, Director of Choral Activities for Delta College.
This event will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 207 Ashman in Midland. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased from any Delta College Choirs student or by contacting Dr. Tim Hendrickson at 989-686-9373 or email@example.com. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for this event.
